After briefly leaving the game with what looked like a serious knee injury, Anaheim Ducks forward Corey Perry returned to the ice before finishing the night as the hero.
Perry smacked the puck past Calgary Flames goaltender Karri Ramo 2:26 into overtime to send the Ducks to the Western Conference Final for the first time since 2007, the year they won the Stanley Cup. It was Perry’s seventh goal of the playoffs.
Anaheim won the series over Calgary 4-1, looking like the better team throughout.
The Ducks have a date with the Chicago Blackhawks in the next round, with the winner advancing to the Stanley Cup Final. Anaheim will have home-ice advantage.
