After the Packers blew a 19-7 to the Seahawks in the NFC Championship game, rumors swirled about Mike McCarthy giving up his offensive play-calling duties. Rumors are now facts as McCarthy officially handed over the play-calling control to Tom Clements.
Clements was the offensive coordinator last season before being promoted to associate head coach for the coming season.
McCarthy says his staff is “ready” for the move, and it will allow him to impact the entire football team in more ways across the board.
Rather than hiring an extra special teams coach, McCarthy will serve in that area along with newly-promoted special teams coordinator Ron Zook.
