Class of 2018 4-star offensive lineman Badara Traore announced his commitment to the LSU Tigers via his Twitter account on Thursday. Traore is rated as the nation’s top JUCO offensive lineman by 247sports composite rankings.
Traore committed to the Tigers following a visit from head coach Ed Orgeron on Thursday, who made the trek to New York to seal the deal. Prior to his commitment to LSU, he took official visits to both Auburn and Texas, who also made offers to the 6-foot-8, 315-pound lineman.
“Any difficulties I faced during Junior College taught me a lot about myself and turned me into the student-athlete I am today… I have decided to continue my education and football career at Louisiana State University,” he wrote in his announcement.
Traore plans to enroll with the Tigers for the upcoming spring semester.
LSU’s 2018 recruiting class is ranked as the 12th-best in the nation by 247sports and the fourth-best in the SEC. Traore is the third-best overall prospect, having played at ASA College in New York.
In his second season at the helm of the Tigers (first as the full-time head coach), head man Ed Orgeron led the Tigers to a 9-3 overall record, going 6-2 inside the SEC. That regular season earned the team an appearance in the Citrus Bowl against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
When Traore arrives on the team for the 2018 year, LSU will already be saddled with its regular SEC opponents, as well as a matchup with the Miami Hurricanes in Arlington, Texas.
