After signing Manny Ramirez as a player/coach last season in the minor leagues, the Chicago Cubs have extended that offer, minus the player part.
Ramirez, 42, will be a hitting consultant for the Cubs. He will work at both the major- and minor-league levels with a focus on the fundamental and mental focus of hitting. He will spend roughly one homestand a month with the Cubs, while working around the minor leagues the rest of the time.
The Cubs also announced the hiring of former Red Sox player Kevin Youkilis to a scouting and player development position in the organization as well.
CBS reminds us he should stick to hitting advice. Fielding? Not so much.
