Chicago Blackhawks Win Game 1 of Stanley Cup Final

Despite trailing for most of the game, the Chicago Blackhawks rallied behind a strong third period to surge past the Tampa Bay Lightning and win Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final 2-1.

Antoine Vermette scored the game-winning goal with less than five minutes remaining in the game. Teuvo Teravainen swatted the puck over to Vermette off a Tampa Bay turnover just 1:58 after tying the game with a goal of his own.

The Lightning went into a defensive shell in the third period, getting outshot by a healthy margin. They led 1-0 most of the game after Alex Killorn opened the scoring 4:31 into the contest with his eighth goal of the postseason.

Game 2 is scheduled for Saturday night in Tampa Bay.
