Sean Miller has coached Arizona to a 16-2 record without Allonzo Trier, but even he doesn’t know if his star guard will play this season after being suspended for undisclosed reasons.
“I can’t even say I’m optimistic right now,” Miller said Monday on the College Hoops Today Podcast. “You learn in crisis to only focus on the things you can control. This is a once in a generation type deal. I really have no feel on what’s going to happen.”
Trier has yet to play this season for Arizona. He averaged 14.8 points last season as a freshman.
Up next for the Wildcats is a game against the USC Trojans on Jan 19. That game is scheduled to tip at 9:00 PM Eastern. The Pac-12 Network will air the event. USC, who has lost two out of their last three, is currently 16-3 on the season.
Following their game against USC, Arizona will once again go on the road to face the UCLA Bruins. That game will be played on Jan. 21. With a 4:00 PM Eastern tip, CBS will broadcast the event. The Bruins are riding a five-game winning streak, and sit with an overall record of 18-1.
