Jim Larranaga doesn’t want to put too much pressure on Miami sophomore Bruce Brown, but it’s hard when you’re getting some of the types of reviews that he’s receiving.

“NBA scouts are comparing him to Russell Westbrook,” Larranaga said Monday on the College Hoops Today Podcast. “He’s got big time athleticism. If he adds a consistent three-point shot, you’re talking about a guy who’s going to be an NBA All-Star.”

The 6-foot-5 Brown averaged 11.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists last season as a freshman.

The Hurricanes lost to Michigan State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Since Larranaga took over in 2011, Miami has made three NCAA Tournaments and is still improving as a program.

The Hurricanes return six of their top eight scorers from a season ago. They finished the 2016-17 college basketball season with an overall record of 21-12. It was the third straight season Miami has won 20 or more games in a season, a feat the program has accomplished in four of the six seasons under Larranaga’s tenure.
