Charlie Moore started at point guard last season for Cal, but the floor general will not be following Cuonzo Martin to Missouri.
“We will not be recruiting Charlie Moore,” Martin said Monday on the College Hoops Today Podcast. “I wish he could have stayed at Cal, but we’ve got two good guards committed here and we’re excited about each of them.”
Moore announced last week that he was transferring to be closer to his home in Chicago.
A 5-11 guard, Moore averaged 12.2 points and 3.5 assists last season.
Martin was hired by Missouri in the middle of March. In nine seasons as a head coach at the Division I level, his overall record is 186-121. He has taken two different programs to the NCAA Tournament during that span of time.
The MVC Coach of the Year for the 2011 season, Martin might be most remembered for taking the Vols to the Sweet Sixteen during the 2013-14 college basketball season.
Cal finished its season with a loss in the NIT. With the Golden Bears, Martin went 62-39 (overall) and helped the university to the NCAA Tournament in 2015-2016. The Golden Bears went 21-13 during the season.
