Cardinals activate Kolten Wong and Kevin Siegrist from 10-day DL

The St. Louis Cardinals will be adding a few pieces to their active 25-man roster for the start of the second half of the 2017 regular season. As a result, the Cardinals have officially activated both second baseman Kolten Wong and left-handed pitcher Kevin Siegrist from their 10-day disabled list, the club announced on Thursday afternoon.

In what have become corresponding roster moves, St. Louis has also elected to option right-handed pitcher Luke Weaver and infielder Alex Mejia down to Triple-A Memphis.

The 26-year-old Wong has spent his entire five-year big league career in St. Louis while already making 47 regular-season appearances for the National League Central ball club thus far into 2017. Over the course of 153 at-bats, Wong has produced a .301 batting average with one home run and 19 RBIs to coincide with his .318 on-base percentage.

For his major league career, the veteran middle infielder has appeared in 463 regular-season games en route to a .253 batting average with 29 home runs, 145 RBIs and a .318 on-base percentage.

On the other hand, the 27-year-old Siegrist has also spent his entire five-year major league career with the Cardinals while making 31 relief appearances this time around. Over the course of 27.1 innings of work, he has compiled a 4.94 ERA in addition to an even 1-1 record, one save, three holds and 25 strikeouts against 15 walks.

For his big league career, Siegrist owns a 2.97 ERA over the course of 261 regular-season relief appearances and 233.2 innings of work in all.
