While Cam Newton can be a maddening quarterback due to inconsistency, no one doubts the Carolina Panthers franchise cornerstone’s otherworldly athletic ability.
Newton showed off why defenses fear him during a third-quarter run, breaking loose on a zone read for a 69-yard sprint. It’s the longest by a quarterback in the NFL this season.

This also elevated Newton into an exclusive club among quarterback rushing yards.
Only Michael Vick, Randall Cunningham and Steve Young have more rushing yards. And Newton now joins them in the 4,000-yard club. While Newton didn’t score on this — although, it looked like he might — the seventh-year player already leads all quarterbacks all-time with 52.
That 69-yard run put Cam Newton over 4,000 career rushing yards. Joins Michael Vick, Randall Cunningham and Steve Young as the only quarterbacks to rush for 4,000 yards in their careers.
