Matt Garza found himself in a compromising situation on a ball hit up the middle Tuesday night, but the Milwaukee Brewers pitcher diffused the problem masterfully.
The veteran starter may have taken a hit away from his counterpart, St. Louis Cardinals starter Luke Weaver, by making a successful gloveless stab at a troublesome chopper up the middle. Despite losing his balance, Garza easily navigated the situation to throw the runner out at first and end the second inning.

The St. Louis non-pitcher batters fared much better against the Milwaukee starter, though. The Cards went on to crush Garza and the Brewers 10-2.
