It didn’t take long for fans to cry “Busted Bracket” as No. 14 UAB took down No. 3 Iowa State 60-59 in just the second game of the day.
The Cyclones of Iowa State blew a 55-51 lead with just over three minutes left to play. Georges Niang, who missed the NCAA tournament last year due to injury, finished just 4-15 shooting. It didn’t help Iowa State that UAB was able to gather in 19 offensive rebounds.

UAB made the tournament after winning the Conference USA conference tournament. The win moved the Blazers to 20-15 on the year, as they await the winner of UCLA and SMU.
