With Neymar Jr. having been sold to Paris-Saint Germain, Barcelona has a lot of money at its disposal and a hole to fill amongst its attacking options. One name that has been discussed in relation to the club is Borussia Dortmund forward Ousmane Dembélé, who has run into some trouble at his current club.

On Thursday it was reported that Dortmund turned down a transfer bid from Barcelona for Dembélé, who was an unexcused absentee from the Bundesliga club’s training session. As a result of his absence, Dembélé has been suspended by Dortmund, and he will not play in the club’s DFB Cup final against FC Rielasingen on Saturday.

“Ousmane Dembélé missed training today without notifying the club and has clearly taken this action consciously. We will obviously sanction him for this,” Borussia Dortmund scouting director Michael Zorc said in the release. “We have also suspended the player until after the cup game at the weekend.”

According to The Guardian, Barcelona submitted a bid of 100 million Euros (just under $117.5 million) for Dembélé. The French international appeared in 37 matches across all competitions for Dortmund last season, tallying 10 goals and 20 assists for a club that finished second in the Bundesliga and reached the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League.

Borussia Dortmund also won the DFB Pokal last season, with Dembélé accounting for two goals and two assists in his five appearances in that domestic competition. Dembélé made his debut appearance for France’s senior national team in 2016, and he’s appeared in seven matches.
