MLB: JUN 05 First-Year Player Draft

MLB Mock Draft Top-10

The MLB Draft is less than two weeks away and it is the one draft of the four major sports leagues that takes place in-season. The Arizona Diamondbacks hold the No. 1 overall pick and will likely select their shortstop of the future.

Knuckleball’s Dan Zielinski breaks down the top 10 picks in the upcoming draft, from Arizona at the top to the Philadelphia Phillies at No. 10.

Four pitchers, three outfielders and three short stops go in the top 10, according to Zielinski. Brendan Rodgers and Dansby Swanson are the top SS on most draft boards, but see which one goes first overall in this mock.

NHL: DEC 06 Blackhawks at Predators

Blackhawks Have Cloudy Summer Ahead

The Chicago Blackhawks forced a Game 7 with their 5-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday night, but they have a tumultuous offseason ahead. After signing superstars Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews to long-term, big money deals, the salary cap monster appears poised to shake things up in the Windy City.

Chicago has numerous quality players set to become free agents (both restricted and unrestricted) on July 1, and will not have the cap space to bring them all back. Is the Blackhawks’ dynasty about to break up?

Not exactly, but general manager Stan Bowman will need to get creative and rely on the team’s stockpile of youth to continue Chicago’s Western Conference dominance.

Updated NBA Mock Draft

As the NBA Final draws ever closer (June 4), the NBA Draft (June 25) is on the horizon. Today’s Fastbreak is running a series of mock drafts leading up to the big day in Brooklyn.

In this edition, Fastbreak’s Scott Stewart evaluates the needs for all 30 teams and fits each player with the best team possible. Karl-Anthony Towns and Jahlil Okafor remain at the top of the draft board, but the order may surprise you.

NCAA FOOTBALL: NOV 01 UCF at UConn

Measuring the Impact of Rookie Receiver Breshad Perriman

The Baltimore Ravens drafted former Central Florida wide receiver Breshad Perriman with their first-round pick in April 30th’s draft to replace Torrey Smith. Smith left for the San Francisco 49ers via free agency.

Perriman has blazing speed and has the size to succeed at the NFL level right away. Pigskin’s Jason Clary breaks down the impact the rookie can make in 2015, even saying he has the chance to be a Rookie of the Year candidate.

The Ravens are a team built to win now, and with only the aging Steve Smith Sr. as a proven commodity in the receiving corps, Perriman gives Baltimore a great chance to contend in the AFC North.

Pac-12 Basketball Still Fighting Against Perception

Pac-12 basketball continues to fight the perception that it is no longer a power conference in college basketball. Despite sending three of its teams to last season’s Sweet 16, the Pac-12 is not getting the preseason love it deserves.

With plenty of game-changers returning to school and an influx of new talent, the Pac-12 appears poised to pick up where they left off last season, with Arizona likely leading the pack.

U’s Kyle Kensing says the future is bright for the Pac-12 and the rest of the nation will soon have to take notice.

FIFA, Blatter Showing Their True Colors With Corruption Scandal

Swiss authorities arrested several top FIFA officials early Wednesday morning at the request of the FBI following a 47-count indictment that was unsealed in federal court in Brooklyn, New York.

In Sebastian Noren’s latest biting column, he chastises FIFA’s actions, saying they have begun to resemble a “mob” under president Sepp Blatter (Blatter was not one of those arrested). He says more should be done in the wake of these arrests.

“FIFA needs to clean house. Blatter should step down, because even if he didn’t have anything to do with all the blatant corruption and behind closed doors dealings with sponsors etc. it would show that he’s not fit to lead FIFA anymore.”
