NBA: NOV 15 Hornets at Warriors

Why Draymond Green’s Free Agency Could Change the NBA

The pending free agent status of Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green brings up an interesting topic: which way are NBA teams heading? Statistical evidence shows there is little doubt Green makes the Warriors a better team when he is on the floor, but max contracts are typically reserved for players with game-breaking stats.

Fastbreak’s Kelly Scaletta goes in-depth on Green’s game and asks if Green is a game-changer or just a different version of Lance Stephenson. Meaning if Green went to another team, would his value drop significantly in a matter of months?

NHL: MAY 29 Eastern Conference Final - Game 7 - Lightning at Rangers

In-Depth Review of the New York Rangers’ 2014-15 Season

One year after losing to the Los Angeles Kings in the Stanley Cup Final, the New York Rangers went all-in this season in an attempt to bring a Cup back to the Rangers’ faithful for the first time since 1994. One of the biggest moves was acquiring defenseman Keith Yandle at the trade deadline. They’ve mortgaged future draft picks in an effort to win now.

The Rangers fell short of their goal, bowing out to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference Final after seven games. Slapshot’s Tom Urtz takes an in-depth look at the Rangers’ 2014-15 season in the first part of his three-part series.

MLB: APR 12, 2010 Oakland at Seattle

Jack Zduriencik and the Mariners’ “Curse of Troy Tulowitzki”

The Seattle Mariners passed on shortstop Troy Tulowitzki with their third overall pick in the 2005 MLB Draft and have been haunted by it ever since. Instead of selecting the future All-Star shortstop, the Mariners chose catcher Jeff Clement, who retired with a .218 batting average and 14 career home runs.

To rub salt in the wound, every player drafted in the top seven in that draft made at least one All-Star team with the exception of Clement. To push it further out, eight of the top 12 have experienced All-Star festivities.

Knuckleball’s David Roberts looks at the “curse” on the team since they passed on Tulo, including a litany of draft failures since 2005.

Today’s Pigskin

NFL: AUG 23 Preseason - Titans at Falcons

Ken Whisenhunt deserves 3 years as the Tennessee Titans’ head coach

The Tennessee Titans need to give head coach Ken Whisenhunt the appropriate time needed to truly build a contender. He took over a Titans team that seriously lacked talent, and now he finally has a chance to build the team in his image.

Tennessee took former Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota with the No. 2 overall pick to be its quarterback of the future. Pigskin’s Nathanael Rutherford says for Mariota’s sake, the Titans need to allow Whisenhunt to work with the young passer through all the highs and lows he will face early in his career.

NCAA FOOTBALL: JAN 01 Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl - Missouri v Minnesota

K.J. Maye Leading Candidate to Elevate Minnesota’s Passing Attack

The Minnesota Golden Gophers’ passing attack was nothing to write home about last season and they now enter the 2015 season without their leading receiver from last season, Maxx Williams. The Baltimore Ravens drafted Williams in the second round of the most recent NFL Draft.

U’s Dustin Schutte says senior receiver K.J. Maye will be a difference maker for Minnesota this season, stepping up in Williams’ absence. Schutte says Minnesota’s success may be a direct reflection of Maye’s play this season.
