How Brad Stevens Revolutionized the Coaching Jump

While he did not have success right away with a bad team, Brad Stevens helped steward the Celtics back into the postseason after a 40-win campaign. He finished fourth in NBA Coach of the Year voting (behind Mike Budenholzer, Steve Kerr and Jason Kidd) for his troubles.

U’s Joe Boozell says Stevens’ transition from Butler to the NBA paved the way for other college coaches to get hired. NBA executives can breathe a little easier when a college coach’s resume comes across their desk.
