Tulowitzki Finally Traded After Years of Rumors, Speculation

After years of rumor, speculation and conjecture, the Colorado Rockies finally moved on from hard-hitting shortstop Troy Tulowitzki late Monday night, shipping him off to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for shortstop Jose Reyes and others. It signals an organizational shift toward the future.

Knuckleball’s Adam Rygg says now that the yearly trade deadline tradition of predicting a Tulowitzki trade is over, both sides can move on and begin anew.

Wisconsin’s ‘Tailback U’ looks to Keep it Going with Clement

Wisconsin is known for its powerful running game, especially lately. Since 1999, running backs like Ron Dayne, Michael Bennett, Montee Ball and Melvin Gordon have all donned a Badgers uniform. Much like USC several decades ago, Wisconsin has become “Tailback U.”

Junior Corey Clement is the next running back to carry the load. U’s Chris Murray says the Badgers should not miss a step in 2015, but have to be wary of replacing three starters on the offensive line.

Rangers Should Lock Up Chris Kreider and Kevin Hayes Soon

The New York Rangers are in the midst of their Stanley Cup window and their mix of young talent coupled with grizzled veterans is a major reason why. Two of those players are forwards Chris Kreider and Kevin Hayes.

Slapshot’s Tom Urtz Jr. says it’s imperative New York locks up its young stars to long-term deals soon. The salary cap can break apart the best of teams and the Rangers can’t afford to have the price go up on those two players.

The Arizona Cardinals just broke down some barriers with the hiring of Dr. Jen Welter to coach inside linebackers as part of a training camp internship. It’s a step that shows significant progress in a sport that needs every image boost it can get off the field.
