FanRag Sports’ own MLB insider, Jon Heyman, took over the @FanRagSports Twitter account and did a Q&A. Here were some of the highlights:

Heyman was asked about the Pirates’ chances of acquiring White Sox pitcher Jose Quintana via trade and he lists the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers as the most likely fits for a possible trade.

All three teams listed above have above average farm systems and would be more than able to meet the White Sox’s demands for Quintana. However, no team has shown a willingness to give the White Sox what they ask for. With Quintana being a strong top-of-the-rotation starter and signed to a team friendly deal ($6 million in 2017, $8.35 million in 2018, $10.5 club options for 2019 and 2020), the White Sox are in no hurry to part with Quintana and have the luxury of waiting for a team to meet their demands.

Here, Heyman was asked about the Mets being a fit for free agent Matt Wieters, but he mentions that the Mets are committed to Travis d’Arnaud.

The Nationals make a lot of sense for Wieters given their need for a catcher now that Wilson Ramos departed for the Rays. It’s also worth noting that Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo and Wieters’ agent, Scott Boras, appear to have a strong working relationship. In a later tweet, Heyman reported that the Rays have made an offer to Wieters, but don’t appear to be the front runner to land him at this time.

Then, Heyman was asked who he thought were the current top five teams in MLB:

Here, Heyman was asked about the possibility of the Braves pursuing Quintana or Chris Archer via trade after striking out in their pursuit of Chris Sale:

Heyman was asked by one of FanRag’s finest about today’s hype level:

Plain and simple, we’re always hyped here at FanRag Sports.
