Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase is receiving significant attention as a head coaching candidate, as most of the teams who currently have vacancies at head coach are lining up to interview Gase.
The Philadelphia Eagles talked with Gase on Tuesday, an interview that the team has promoted on their Twitter account. Gase’s itinerary for the rest of the week was reported on a few days ago by NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, and will include interviews with the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday and the Miami Dolphins on Thursday. Rapoport added today that the New York Giants are also jockeying in line to interview Gase.
This means that the Tennessee Titans and San Francisco 49ers are the only teams who currently have a vacancy at head coach and are not publicly known to be pursuing Gase.
According to Football Outsiders’ DVOA metric, the Bears had a top-10 offense this season under Gase’s direction. The Bears were successful even though their best wide receiver, Alshon Jeffrey, only appeared in nine total games, and the team’s first-round pick, wide receiver and #7 overall Kevin White, did not appear in any games this season.
