Not only did Baltimore Orioles rookie right fielder Austin Hays get the first hit of his major league career in Saturday’s game against the New York Yankees, he also hit his first home run in the majors. Hays’ two-run shot to right center in the top of the ninth inning put the Orioles on the scoreboard, driving in second baseman J.J. Hardy.

Hays, who was called up by the Orioles Sept. 5, is considered to be the second-best prospect in the Orioles organization by MLB Pipeline. Hays was 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs batted in Saturday, moving his average for the year up to .200.
