New York Yankees beleaguered player Alex Rodriguez hit two home runs on Friday against the Tampa Bay Rays, bringing him to within two home runs of Willie Mays on the all-time home run list.
The damaged started in the second inning when A-Rod hit a solo shot off Rays’ starter Nathan Karns. The homer traveled an estimated 471 feet, making it the longest home run by anyone on the young season.

Then in the sixth, Rodriguez hit a two-run blast to left field off Ernesto Frieri. Rodriguez has 658 career homers, just two behind Willie Mays.
If Rodriguez starts tomorrow, he’ll face Tampa Bay starter Jake Odorizzi. It was A-Rod’s first multi-homer game since May 23rd of 2012. He sat out all of last season due to a drug suspension.
