On the day that former Green Bay Packers tight end Martellus Bennett claimed the team mishandled his shoulder injury, saying that the team failed to inform him that he had torn the rotator cuff in his shoulder, multiple Packers players took to social media to defend team doctor Dr. Pat McKenzie.

Wide receiver Jordy Nelson posted a message via his Twitter account in support of Dr. McKenzie, and Friday night quarterback Aaron Rodgers did the same via Instagram. While Nelson said in his account that Dr. McKenzie “is very cautious about putting players back on the field with an injury,” Rodgers stated that the doctor “has always tried to protect me and my future.”

Packers defensive back Damarious Randall also offered his support for Dr. McKenzie, quote-tweeting Nelson’s tweet with the “100” emoji used repeatedly.

Since being waived by the Packers on Thursday, Bennett has been picked up by the New England Patriots and reportedly participated in practice Friday.
