The 2017 Arizona Fall League begins on October 10 while the 26th edition of the circuit will unsurprisingly feature some of the games up-and-coming stars. On Tuesday, the rosters were revealed.
The 2017 rosters will include 11 players slotted in MLB.com’s top 100 prospect list: Nationals outfielder Victor Robles (No. 5), Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna (No. 8), Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker (No. 10), Indians catcher Francisco Mejia (No. 16), Pirates pitcher Mitch Keller (No. 22), Mariners outfielder Kyle Lewis (No. 47), Padres infielder Luis Urias (No. 55), Brewers outfielder Corey Ray (No. 66), Dodgers outfielder Yusniel Diaz (No. 85), Yankees outfielder Estevan Florial (No. 87) and Yankees pitcher Justus Sheffield (No. 89).
Ray and Lewis were both first-rounders from the 2016 MLB Draft while Tucker went in the first round a year prior.
Games will be played at Camelback Ranch-Glendale (Glendale), Peoria Sports Complex (Peoria), Salt River Fields (Salt River), Scottsdale Stadium (Scottsdale), Sloan Park (Mesa) and Surprise Stadium (Surprise).
Last year’s Fall League crop unsurprisingly turned up some noteworthy names. New York Yankees infield prospect Gleyber Torres was awarded Arizona Fall League MVP. Tim Tebow, who played on Torres’s team with the Scorpions, represented the Mets. White Sox infielder Yoan Moncada and pitcher Michael Kopech, Nationals outfielder Andrew Stevenson, Indians outfielder Bradley Zimmer, Dodgers outfielder/first baseman Cody Bellinger, Brewers outfielder Brett Phillips and Athletics infielder Franklin Barreto were just a handful of notable players who participated in last year’s showcase.
