Rob DiRe and Stan Talouis give their post-Thanksgiving podcast special treatment with a long-winded podcast in which they try to sort out the end of the regular season in college football and speed through their Rookie Report before picking out some interesting player comparisons for some of their favorite collegiate athletes. An abbreviated “Draft Room” segment looks at the Saints and Ravens, and they finish by setting up a big board of the best December move releases. Check out the detailed breakdown of the NFL Draft Podcast below:

Championship Week in College Football (0:12)

Before getting into Championship Week, Rob and Stan look back at Ohio State’s victory over Michigan and get distracted by the recent announcement that Buckeye safety Malik Hooker will return to Columbus in 2017. They also get to talk about D’Onta Freeman declaring that he will enter the NFL Draft. They run through all the championship games and the prospects to watch in each, and mull the possibility of Clemson and Washington losing and opening the door for three Big 10 teams with legitimate claims to the playoff.

Rookie Report (19:24)

Michael Thomas and Malcolm Mitchell stand out as receiving options this week, while Derrick Henry has his best game of the season. Jared Goff looks serviceable, and Noah Spence continues to look like he was under drafted this past spring.

College Player Pro Comparisons (23:28)

Rob and Stan list some of their favorite college players who remind them uncannily of current or recent pros. Stan picks like three guys who remind him of players from the same school who played the same position. Rob tries a little harder, and even comes up with a few cross-racial comparisons that are so rarely pushed.

Draft Room: Saints and Ravens (43:34)

This week Stan follows his Giants by slumming it with the Saints, and Rob finally pegs the Ravens. They project forward what team needs will be and compare that to the recent draft history to come up with a few potential prospects they could target in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Big Board: December Movies (56:25)

Ask Rob and December is going to be a big month for movies. Ask Stan and he isn’t so enthused. Either way, the put together their list of 10 movies they are most excited for this month, and they have a ton of disagreements.

The job of an NFL general manager isn’t merely about finalizing the 53-man roster. While Drew Brees is throwing touchdown passes and Robert Quinn is crushing quarterbacks, there are a flurry of decision makers looking to next year’s NFL Draft to see what kind of depth to add behind them and if there are any cheap talent to replace them with.

If they are starting their NFL Draft prep back in August, why would any self-respecting football fan wait until the NFL Combine to get in on the action?

The NFL Draft Podcast here at Today’s Pigskin is meant to get the wheels churning on some of the NFL’s next breakout stars before you sit down to look at your first mock draft sometime in early February. We will be breaking down some of the best draft-eligible prospects, analyzing team fits, and even trying to project team needs down the line.
